Revel Video Wedding Videographer Web Site

December 21, 2007 in Development, Web Development

Shannan (my fiancee) and I hired J.G. Lis of Revel Video to be our wedding videographer. During our initial meeting, he mentioned he needed his web site updated. Ironically, that’s what I do for a living, so we decided to exchange services. His existing site was basically a mashup of images that was hard to maintain. J kept having to have his designer make simple textual updates.

So, I ported his existing site into a WordPress template so he’d have control over his content. A CSS layout was used instead of all of the images that he had before. And, on his demo page, I used simple Javascript to play his demo videos on the same demo page instead of having a separate page for each demo.

The end result was a site he was really happy with and could update when he needed to. Since I’m not a CSS design expert, I couldn’t offer him a flash bang new theme, but at least I was able to give him something flexible that adheres to newer web standards. Over time, hopefully as my web skills progress, his site can take on a new, fresh look.
